Nigerian‑born Blackburn Rovers full‑back Ryan Alebiosu has been called up to the Super Eagles for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers, stepping in for the injured Ola Aina. In his first interview after the announcement, Alebiosu said he was “thrilled” to represent Nigeria and expressed confidence that the team can reach the AFCON final in Morocco.

“This is a great opportunity,” the former Arsenal academy graduate told reporters. “I have always wanted to play for my country at a major tournament, and I hope I can help the team go all the way.”

Alebiosu, whose parents are Nigerian, was approached by the Nigerian Football Federation three weeks ago. Because he has never represented England at any level, the switch was straightforward. He is on the squared for Afocon, providing fresh defensive depth as Nigeria aims to secure a spot at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
