The Olympic Solidarity Beach Volleyball Coaching Course has come to a close in Abuja, marking the end of a five-day intensive training program. The course, jointly organized by the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), and International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), saw 25 participants from across Nigeria learn modern Beach Volleyball techniques and coaching methodologies.
19 coaches received FIVB certification, while all participants got recognition from NVBF for completing the program. NVBF President Engr. Musa Nimrod urged coaches to apply their new knowledge practically, emphasizing that productivity matters more than certificates.
“The road to Los Angeles begins here,” Nimrod said, highlighting the importance of developing young talents and contributing to Nigeria’s global competitiveness. NOC representative Rukayat Dolapo Olaniyan praised the NVBF for aligning with Olympic Solidarity’s development objectives, saying the course reflects their shared vision to empower coaches and inspire excellence.
Shola Fayose, Deputy Director of Coaching and Training at the National Sports Commission, lauded NVBF’s proactive drive toward technical development, noting that certified coaches will translate to better results. Course instructor Javier Bosma expressed satisfaction with participants’ enthusiasm and progress, urging them to apply their knowledge within their communities.
Participants like Laju Isabella expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying the course opened their eyes to better ways of teaching and mentoring younger players. The NVBF believes the program will have a lasting impact on volleyball development, with Nimrod concluding, “This is just the beginning. We’ve planted a seed of excellence that must continue to grow.”
