Gold Rush For Team Nigeria In Taekwondo, On Day 3 Of The African Military Games

 

Team Nigeria hauled as many as four Gold medals, on an eventful Day 3 of the 2nd edition of the African Military Games (AMGA 2024), with all the four Gold medals coming from Taekwondo.

The strong showing of the Nigerian Taekwondo fighters, at the Velodrome in Package B of the MKO Abiola Stadium was also the highlight of Day 3 results, released by the games Technical and Monitoring team.

The day featured a handful of games, including Archery, Boxing, Basketball, shooting, Squash, Taekwondo and Wrestling; at designated venues, within the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The Gold medals were won by Mohammed Yusuf – men’s 54kg, Bisallah Rejoice – women’s 46kg, Ibeh Nancy – women’s 49 kg; and Chinenye Anam Glory – women’s 53 kg.

Speaking with newsmen at the venue, a visibly elated Tunisian, Atui Saidi expressed his joy after (in Arabic), for making it to the podium, as a Gold medalist.

1,625 athletes, drawn from 21 African countries, are taking part in the 2nd edition of the African Military Games which started on Monday; and they are competing for medals in 20 different events.

Correspondent Samuel Asemokhai reports that action at the fiesta, which was declared open by Vice-President Kashim Shettima on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ends on Saturday, November 30th, 2024.
