Reigners Bible Church International, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital have collapsed. The state governor, Emmanuel Udom, who was present at the premises when the incident happened was reported to have escaped with minor injuries. Official details of the victims are yet to be made public.
Unofficial sources confirmed to www.gongnews.net that, no fewer that three persons have been confirmed dead in the incident which happened at about 12 noon on Saturday. A source privy to the incident said that the founder of the church, Apostle Akan Weeks, was supposed to be ordained Bishop. That was the basis of the governor and
many of the high networth individuals’ presence.
The church, located at Km1 Uyo Village Rd, Off Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo, collapsed. From all indications, the governor, alongside others were trapped in the building. A Government House disclosed that, “he is in good condition as at the time of filing this report as he was rushed to the Government House immediately. He has psychologically stabised.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Irene Ugbo, is yet to respond to a message sent to her mobile number to get the official police reaction to the incident.
