Hundreds Of AthIetes Throng Abiola Stadium For First AFN Pre Africa Games Competitions

 

Day1 of the AthIetics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) first Pre -Africa Games competitions have started at the Moshood Abiola Stadium with 5000m men and women.

According to AFN technical director Samuel Onikeku over 500 AthIetes from 27 states beside AthIetics Clubs are in attendance.

Most athletic stars were also present like Angeles Patience Okon George and others.
Onikeku in a flash interview with journalist said, the essence of the competition is to select athletes for AFN camp for the Africa Games.

“Athletes responded for this meet and we are happy about it. There’s hunger and enthusiasm among AthIetes for competition and we hope to get a good performance.

Day2 of the competition will witness more action as 400m, 200m men and women finals would be on display, this is expected to be followed with jumps, 400h, 100h, etc.
All AFN officials were present with spectators cheering every move athletes made on the tracks.
Onikeku was of the view that expectations are high as Africa Games and Paris Olympics are major competitions AFN have this year.
