In his candid submission, he described the outing as below average, a verdict the players accepted, while collectively accepting to improve on their performance in the second round as promotion remains a top priority to everyone.
The Chairman admonished the players to first see themselves through the lens of true professionalism, stressing that genuine excellence must originate from the heart before it can manifest into meaningful results on the pitch.
He charged the players to judiciously utilize the break period to prepare, reflect and mentally recalibrate ahead of the decisive second half of the season.
Mr. Ikya made his expectations unequivocally clear, stating that the team must strive to secure victories in all their remaining fixtures of the second stanza, while also hinting at the possible addition of fresh legs to further reinforce the squad.
He further cautioned against excessive indulgence during the festive period, warning the players not to compromise their fitness by adding unnecessary weight, which could negatively impact performance.
According to him, the journey is far from over, with a lot of ground that needs to be covered, hence the urgent need for heightened alertness, discipline and professionalism.
Before he wished the players a safe journey to their respective destinations, the Chairman reaffirmed the club’s ultimate ambition, as he stated that the overriding objective remains a return to the NPFL.
In his remarks, Team Manager Finbar Yamelu, urged the players to take the Chairman’s counsel with the seriousness it deserves, advising them to be circumspect in their engagements throughout the break and to remain firmly focused on returning in peak condition and high spirits.
The ex-Lobi Stars’ goalkeeper also extended his best wishes to the players and staff as they depart for the holidays.
