… vow not to support MP’s imposed candidate come October 5
As the October 5 local government council poll gets underway in Akwa Ibom State, All Peoples Congress supporters in Obot Akara have resolved not to vote for the party’s chairmanship candidate, one Mr Anthony Udeme, over his alleged imposition by the member representing the area, Dr Patrick Umoh.
In a petition addressed to the Senate President, who is also the leader of APC in the state, supporters of the party in Obot Akara alleged that the MP’s candidate, Mr Tony Udeme is not choice of the people as he was never a member of APC but a product of imposition.
According to the petitioners, Mr Udeme has never worked for the party or registered as a card carrying member as he is currently a teacher at State College, Ikot Ekpene.
The people described the imposition of Mr Anthony Udeme, alias Nkuma, as a bad omen for Obot Akara in the forthcoming election as the said position had been duely zoned.

The petitioners insisted that they have settled for the candidature of Hon Nathaniel Nelson Nathaniel, from Ikot Abia Ward 3, a former Councilor and pillar of APC, who joined the party the same with Sen Godswill Akpabio.
“Hon Nathaniel is our choice. He has contributed immensely to the growth of the party and attracted new members through his consistent regular campaigns across the senatorial district”, the people recalled.
“We want to register our total displeasure over the surreptitious decision by our MP to substitute and impose a strange bird fellow on us.
Mr Udeme is not known to us and so we cannot guarantee his victory in the forthcoming election, moreso, he comes from the same ward with PDP’s chairmanship candidate”, they emphasized.
The group strongly appealed to the President of the Senate to urgently intervene in this daylight robbery as failure to do so will definitely jeopardize the party chances of victory in the October polls in the area.
