The Transition Committee Chairman of Itu Local Government Area, Hon (Barr) Etetim Onuk has been commended for the quality of leadership exhibited within six months in office.
A cross section of Itu indigenes who spoke with reporters recently in glowing terms about the star performance of the administration of the Chairman in the area of infrastructural development, health, education and youth development.
Other areas they applauded the Transition Committee of Itu include, workers’ welfare, amongst others.
They sited the construction of the ultra morden traditional rulers Chambers which is almost completed and the complete renovation and furnishing of the local government secretariat which hitherto was nothing to write home about .
They praised the Transition Committee Chairman for building 100 stores/shades at Itam market as well as the construction of a modern stalls and water cistern at the T junction market Obot Etim.
On roads, they lauded Hon Onuk for the massive grading of roads across the local government – a feat they opined was unprecedented.
On Education, they eulogise the administration for the payment of bursary to students of Itu extraction in all tertiary institutions across the country adding that financial assistance were also give to indigent students in Nigerian Law school.
Furthermore, the administration they added paid Jamb registration to 150 indigent students from the local government area.
The Transition Chairman Barr Onuk in his comment, observed that his passion for Itu local Government knows no bounds, hence his avowed decision to render selfless services to the people.
His decision to do a complete rehabilitation/renovation of the entire Secretariat complex was due to the fact that Itu People deserve a better deal.
On the Security Village, he also said had been totally revamped with electricity restored and other ailing facilities fix.
As a focused administration, the people of Ikot Annie Itam he noted had been gifted with a transformer and Multi purpose civic center assuring that he is committed to spreading development to all parts of the local government area.
Commenting on the Traditional Rulers Chamber (TRC) which is almost completed, he disclosed that it will accommodate the five clan heads of Itu with offices for their secretaries.
On Agriculture, the administration he noted, flagged off operation let’s go farming for Itu indigenes to aid massive commercial and mechanical farming fir food sufficiency.
Commenting on health scheme, the administration he said is boosting the commencement of a near 24 hour service at Mbak Atai while supplies of drugs and medical equipment to health centers hasals been undertaken by the administration.
To boost security in the local government area, the council he explained had donated patrol vehicles to Itu division of Nigeria police force to aid their fight against crime.
