Former Nigeria International Julius Aghahowa, who also played for the Insurance of Benin in the late 90’s has expressed his happiness for the great turn around the team is experiencing winning the FA Cup after over 43 years in the wilderness in a chat with Olayinka Elebute of Gongnews.net the former Esperance of Tunisia player said.
“I’m particularly happy for Insurance of Benin, because it’s been a long time coming and they have really worked hard this season at some point they had unbeaten run about 26 games unbeaten last season and I think it was at the Super 6 that they broke that run so but winning the FA Cup is a consolation for all their hard work for all the things they’ve gone through he stated.

While urging them to show more of what the team can do when they go on the continent, “and this is an opportunity to show what they can do when they go and represent Nigeria when it comes to the continental tournament I think is a good one for them. They just have to give their best on the continent they have all it takes and with the support of the state government I expect them to do well and make us proud, he continued.
He also revealed the team ordeals in the past, ” they have really gone through a lot, there was a time they gain promotion to the Premier League and then they got relegated at the same time and so now they’re back and then they won the FA Cup this is a testament to show that when you work hard for something when you put in your work, dedication and you will get what you really deserve. Aghahowa concluded.
Insurance last won the FA Cup in the 80’s and they returned to their glorious era beating Rangers of Enugu by a lone goal to claim the FA Cup after 43 years, but the team last won a major trophy in 1995 when they won the WAFU Cup.
It will be recalled that Insurance top the group A of the abridge League playing 18 games without losing a game, but lost their unbeaten runs in the Super 6 coming 5th, playing 21 league games and 5 unbeaten games in the FA cup with clean sheets, the team is been coached by former National team coach Coach Monday Odigie
