NFF Secretary General: Olajire Taking His Luck Too Far

By Chinedum Ezeaku

I read with amusement an article titled “Who is afraid of Dr Ademola Olajire?” by a jester who in trying to paint his master in good light before Nigerians ended up rolling him (Olajire) more in the mud.

Rather than come up with facts why he thinks that Olajire is qualified at all to be considered as Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Secretary General, the writer delved into irrelevancies that have no direct correlation with the situation at hand.

If is well-tutored and one is very sure he is not, it is rather Olajire who is engaging in Pulling It Down (PID) syndrome by wanting at all cost occupy a very sensitive position that he is not qualified for and by extension he is not a certified sports administrator. Olajire is just an accidental civil servant who want to rock the boat and try his ‘luck’. But it is this trial and error thing that has plagued our national life resulting in where we are today negatively that is and this we must put a stop to. The era of square peg in a round hole is over as far as Nigerian football is concerned.

For Olajire, and their cohorts, the NFF Statute mandates that the general secretary should have at least a professional background in Physical and Health Education or Sports management which is what Sola Ogunowo possesses.

So, nobody is afraid of him or pulls him down, but the fact remains that Olajire is not a sports officer. The office of the general secretary of NFF is purely for professionals as clearly stated in NFF Statutes. Since inception, no non-professional has occupied that office (Secretary General)

The Federal Government won’t allow mediocre to occupy the office. This is what is destroying our football. The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), the national body of doctors in Nigeria, will not allow a non-professional to be a Chief Medical Director of a hospital.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the national body of lawyers in Nigeria won’t allow someone who is not a lawyer to be appointed as Attorney General just like the Nigeria Society of Engineer (NSE) won’t allow a novice to be part of their society. The question here is: Why is Olajire fighting for a position that he does not qualify for?

His mere online certificate cannot be equated to a graduate in core sports administration. To make matter worse he has Mass Communication from 1st degree to PhD level which shut him down completely from the position of the General Secretary of the NFF as stated above.

He joined civil service on level 14 without the consent of Head of Service or the Civil Service commission. He falsified his age, claiming he was born in 1968 and the documents he used to change his age in 2011 is still available or has he forgotten he has documents with Federal Government agencies?

Olajire should not take his luck too far. A word is enough for the wise, I mean the real wise
