Niger Delta Sports Festival Set To Produce The Next Generation Of Athletes…..  Sir Itiako Ikpokpo

Lead consultant to the Niger Delta Sports Festival Dunamis Icon LTD, Sir Itiako Ikpokpo, has revealed to Gongnews.net their major target is to  built a new generation of athletes for Nigeria.

Speaking with Gongnews.net, Sir Itiako Ikpokpo  said that Niger Delta has been adding values to the country for over 60 years so the aim of the festival is to look for raw talent that they can build on for the future.

In his words “the foundational issues is we have dearth of talent in our sport so the festival is to unearth those that we  will polish into world class athletes and build a new generation of athletes and we know they are many in the region” he said.

According to him, “most of the athletes that we discover here  for  instance, we are hoping that our athletes who do well here can go to the Commonwealth Games next year either to watch or participate and it gives them a lot of exposure.

And also twice a year we want to camp  them in places like Calabar you know in the Niger Delta where they will do well you know once in a while send stipends to them go take them to competitions I think that will  help them and builds their confidence so that’s the foundation and that’s how we got to where we are today myself and my team”.
