Nigeria’s global relevance in wrestling continues to be on the rise after the World Wrestling Governing body (UWW) invited Nigeria’s national team women head coach Akuh Purity to participate as an educator at the International Wrestling Training Camp from 30th October to 12th November 2025 in Japan.
Also, Nigeria’s national team wrestlers, Mercy Genesis and Asaolu Esther were invited to participate in the training camp to broaden technical knowledge and cultural integration
However, Purity’s recognition as one of the educators to participate at the International Wrestling Training Camp in Japan is an addition to how Nigeria’s wrestling is perceived globally.
The newly inaugurated board member of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation will be putting his wealth of experience to impacting young wrestlers and national team coaches of Japan – a nation with rich wrestling heritage
Purity alongside the two invited Nigeria’s national team wrestlers, Mercy Genesis and Asaolu Esther, arrived Japan 31st October 2025
The leader of delegation expressed pride at the opportunity to impact people beyond the shores of Nigeria.
“This recognition is not only a personal honour but also a significant achievement for our Wrestling Federation and our country at large.”
“It is my pleasure to contribute to the global development of wrestling by sharing knowledge, enhancing technical skills, and promoting collaboration among athletes, coaches, and referees from around the world.” Purity said.
