Under 17 Nigeria Premier Football League Youth Team Assistant Coach, Ken Chukwu is expressing confidence saying his team will make Nigeria proud when they arrive summer tour in Spain
The team made up of 30 players were invited for a 2-week development camp in Abuja where several friendly matches have been lined up for the NPFL Youth League All-Stars to fine tune their readiness for the European Football Tour.
Speaking with journalist after a 2-2 draw with Assess Football Academy, one of the friendly matches played at the MKO Abiola Stadium Abuja, coach of the team Ken Chukwu assured that the team would be ready.
“This is the best thing happening to Nigeria Football, I want to thank the NPFL board for the opportunity. This is the third day since we resumed on Sunday with players from different backgrounds. We are working to get the best from them and I believe the team will be ready”.
“Though there are a lot of work to do but the players are all good players and that is where the work is, getting the best of them to represent the Nigerian League.
Coach Ken Chukwu also commended the organizer for the good initiatives.
“With this kind of initiative, the NPFL has done well to introduce the first edition of this league which will help Nigeria football to develop more young vibrant players.
“By the time we conclude our training and embark on the European tour, we are going to do Nigeria proud.” He concluded.
The team arrived camp in Abuja on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
The 30 players in camp are made up of seven players from the NPFL Champions, Rangers International Youth Team, six from Remo Stars Youth Team, and five from winners of the maiden NPFL U17 Youth League, Rivers United.
Four were selected from Plateau United and Katsina United, two from Lobi Stars and one each from Abia Warriors and Sunshine Stars.
The players were picked from the five zonal qualifiers which were held in February at Lafia, Kaduna, Ado Ekiti, Enugu and Port Harcourt as well as from the finals that were held from February 25 to March 3 in Benin.
