Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has publicly apologised to fans for failing to secure a World Cup ticket, acknowledging the disappointment of back‑to‑back qualifying failures. In recent statements, the Galatasaray forward expressed deep regret for the missed opportunity and promised that the Super Eagles will seek redemption at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
“After two successive World Cup misses, we owe Nigerians a strong response,” Osimhen said. “I’m committed to giving everything in AFCON 2025 and bringing the trophy home.” He added that the team’s focus is now on Group C (Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda) and that a successful campaign would help heal the nation’s football wounds.
The apology comes amid heightened expectations for Nigeria’s attack, with Osimhen’s goal‑scoring prowess highlighted as a key factor for a deep AFCON run. The tournament kicks off on December 21, 2025, and Nigeria’s opening match against Tanzania is slated for December 23 .
