The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical committee has set a semifinal target for the Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), and Victor Ikpeba, a member of the committee, believes this goal is achievable.
Ikpeba, the 1997 CAF Player of the Year, emphasized the need for a realistic approach, given the team’s current situation. “Reaching the last four of the AFCON will be a realistic target for the Super Eagles,” he said. “We’re certainly not one of the favorites to win the tournament, and so we can only dream.”
Ikpeba highlighted the importance of rebuilding the team, stating, “We have to rebuild the Super Eagles from this AFCON, and as such our targets have to be modest.” He cautioned against putting excessive pressure on the team by expecting them to win the tournament outright.
