Senate President Cup:Organisers Honour LOC Chairman With Prestigious Award

 

The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) chairman of the Senate Presidents U-18 Unity Football Tournament was honoured over the weekend with the Grassroot Sports Ambassador Award at a ceremony held at the Custodian Hotel, Abuja.

The award was presented by Hon. John Ekpenyong, tournament coordinator; Distinguished Senator Musa Mustafa, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Livestock; and Hon. Ali Muhammed Gombe, Chairman of the Sponsorship, Partnership and Mobilisation Sub‑Committee. The recognition acknowledges the LOC chairman’s contributions to grassroots sports development and the nurturing of young athletes across the country.

“We are honoring an individual who has shown remarkable commitment to promoting sports at the grassroots level. This award is a testament to his hard work and passion for developing young athletes,” said Senator Musa Mustafa, praising the awardee’s dedication.

Tournament Coordinator, Hon. John Ekpenyong commended the laureate’s efforts in staging the tournament, saying, “We appreciate your tireless efforts in ensuring the success of this tournament. Your recognition is a well‑deserved tribute to your contributions to Nigerian sports.”

Hon. Ali Muhammed Gombe added that the award reflects the positive influence the LOC chairman has had on young players. “This award is a reflection of the impact you’ve made in the lives of young athletes. We’re proud to have you on board,” he said.

Organisers said the upcoming second edition of the Senate Presidents U-18 Unity tournament promises to be an exciting as about 20 states of the Federation will be showcasing their talents on the pitch; as this edition will feature both male and female teams, bringing together youths from across Nigeria to compete while promoting unity, sportsmanship and healthy competition.
