Minister of Youth and Sports Development ,Sunday Dare has critically questions the competent level of Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr who he said he has abandoned the talent in the league all these while.
The minister stated this during his visit to the Super Eagles training at goal project National Stadium Abuja. He said as an advocate for homebased players in the national team.
I believe they are capable if given the needed support and I have seen situations in the past where homebased players formed the nucleus of our national teams to major competitions’.
‘The late Stephen Keshi led a crop of super eagles players to victory in South Africa 2013 with the nucleus of the team namely Azubuike Egwuekwe,Reuben Gabriel, Sunday Mbah,Godffrey Oboabona,Ejike Uzoenyi and chigozie Agbim all coming from the local league’
He, however charged the players to take advantage of every opportunity and make it count.
” I can see enormous talent here and I see no reason why some of you are not invited into the main stream Super Eagles team” the minister said.
