SWAN Pays Tribute To Water FC Founder With Prestigious Award

 

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has presented the Distinguished Service Award to Makanjuola Nureni, founder and owner of Water FC Academy Abuja.

The award was given during SWAN’s 60th-anniversary celebration in Abuja, which honored individuals and organizations promoting sports excellence in the country.

Nureni expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating that it motivates him to do more for youth sports development in Nigeria.

“He praised SWAN for celebrating individuals making a difference in Nigerian sports and urged the association to continue its commitment to excellence.

“ I feel happy and fulfilled because we have been doing this for decades, and many times, our efforts went unnoticed. But I thank God that SWAN recognized people like us.

“This award gives me hope and motivation to do more. It’s a source of inspiration to me and my supporters, and I believe it will encourage us to invest more in youth sports development in Nigeria.

Through Water FC Academy, Nureni has nurtured young football talents and sponsored several players who have gone on to play professionally locally and internationally.

His dedication to sports development has earned him recognition as a leading contributor to the growth of Nigerian sports. The award further solidifies his reputation as a passionate advocate for talent discovery and empowerment.
