We Organized A Beffitting Championship — TIG President

President of Tony International Gymnastics Club TIG Tony Asuqua says he will continue to do all within his power to promote the development of gymnastics in Nigeria.

Asuqua made the assertion during the closing ceremony of the just concluded 15th Annual International Gymnastics Level Championship.

According to him, the annual International Gymnastics Level Championship was organized to create platform where young gymnasts can showcase their talents.

“These activities are crucial for assessing the progress of our gymnasts. For high-performance athletes, it’s a step toward aligning with Federation Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) standards as we prepare for the 2028 Olympics.”

“The government must create an enabling environment for private academies to thrive. While private initiatives drive growth, they need the backing of a supportive system.”

Asuquo commended the efforts of Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, and Director General Bukola Olopade, for taking bold steps to revitalize Nigerian sports.

The former technical director of Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria further assured that the next edition will see massive improvement

Also speaking, one of the gymnasts who took part in the championship Amani Bakare believes the championship gave her the platform to improve her skills.

Over 500 gymnasts across the country took part in the championship that took place at the Gymnasium Hall of Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

The competition, supported by FAXX Supermarket, stands out as a groundbreaking event in Nigeria’s gymnastics scene, with cash donations awarded to winners across various categories.
