Nigeria football Federation, NFF and Nigeria Referees Association, NRA have assured stakeholders that officiating will take a new turn and that the association will consolidate on the gains of the training program for Referees recently held for Premiership referee.
Speaking on behalf of the NFF President Amaju Pinnick, Ibrahim Gusau, the Chairman of Chairmen said that having taken a critical look at the performance of Nigerian Referees in the outgoing season, it the desire of NFF to work more with NRA to organise more trainings programs that will keep the referees abreast of the new laws of the game.
While looking at the suggestions made by NRA president, Tade Azeez to consolidate on the gains of the special training program for premier league referees.
‘We will try to see the possibility of ensuring that this project is captured in the budget so that it can be provided for,’ he said.
Speaking in the same vein, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi said the need to keep the Referees abreast of the latest changes in the game necessitated NFF to organise the training program.
While He also commended the referees for performing beyond expectation in face of challenges at league venues.
Speaking earlier, NRA president Tade Azeez made a plea to have the training program twice a year which to him will help to monitor the growth of the referee.
He added that so far the referees have done well while condemning spate of violence recorded in some league venues which has put life of referees in jeopardy.
