Welfare Of Athletes ‘ll Be Our Priority In 2021 – KFN President

President of Karate Federation of Nigeria KFN, HE. Silas Agara has said the welfare of the athletes will be taken seriously in the coming year since they are the mainstay of the federation.
Agara a former Nasarawa State Deputy Governor disclosed this during the 2nd Annual General Full Council meeting of the body held in Abuja on Monday.
“No matter the amount of world class judges and coaches you have, without the welfare of the athletes, you cannot achieve anything,” he said.
He also enjoined the state governments to make the welfare of the athletes their priorities in order to get the best out of them.
Agara said the essence of the gathering was to look back into the programme of activities in the past years as well as glimpse into the future with participants making inputs and contributions to the growth of the sport in the country.
“It is a platform for us to take stock of events of the past years and make inputs for the new calendar year. Not doing so will make the body unconstitutional which will contradicts the laws of the country,” he explained.
Agara expressed happiness with large turn out of delegates from the states which he said was overwhelming with about 20 states in attendance.
“The attendance really surpass our expectations. Before now the atmosphere was not conducive, but with the provision of the constitution people are now taking us serious.
I think our programmes are speaking for us from the grassroots to the zonal and national level,” he added.
He disclosed that the maiden edition of Goodluck Jonathan Federation of African Karate UFAK championship suspended due coronavirus pandemic will now hold next year November.
Agara said that the championship which has been generously endorsed by the former president will attract teams from West African countries.
He disclosed that the tournament which will first be organised within the West African region in the first two editions may be sanctioned by the world Karate body from the third edition
