The Super Eagles are gearing up for the final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, and former Nigeria striker Brown Ideye is rallying the troops . Nigeria is currently fourth in Group C with 7 points, trailing leaders South Africa with 13 points, while Rwanda and Benin are close behind with 8 points each .
Ideye knows the team has struggled in previous matches, and he’s emphasizing the need for mental toughness to secure a World Cup ticket . The 2026 World Cup will be hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico .
“A lot of things went wrong in our previous games,” Ideye told Brila FM . “Reshuffling players and coaches affected the team . We thought we had the easiest group, but we underestimated some teams . Now, every team playing Nigeria is coming with their A-game . They won’t sit back and let us pass them by – they’ll do whatever it takes to qualify for the World Cup .”
