The Zenith Bank Nigeria Basketball Federation ( NBBF) Women’s premier League 2025 Phase one Savannah Conference on Tuesday tips off at the indoor hall of Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The Nigeria Customs women’s basketball team defeated Nassarawa Amazons,with a 83- 30 victory in their opening group game at the ongoing tournament.
The tournament which commenced today ,July 29 and it’s expecting to end Aug. 5 in Abuja.
In the match played, Nigeria Customs women’s basketball team demonstrated their dominance and displaying superior composure and fitness levels against a spirited Nassarawa Amazons 25-10 lead by the end of the first quarter, setting the tone early.
Nigeria Customs continued to stayed strong, in the second quarter,recording 20-3 as they extended the gap to 23-5 in the third quarter leaving Nassarawa Amazons with no room for a comeback.
The fourth quarter belonged to Nigeria customs , who outscored Nassarawa Amazons 15-12 to seal victory and start their campaign in style.
As Nigeria customs sealed the emphatic win in the final quarter with another blistering display, to wrap up the game 83-30.
Speaking after the match , Coach Abraham Mohammed of the Nigeria Customs women’s basketball team expressed satisfaction with the win, but noted that there is still room for improvement.
“ Emphasised that the team is in a rebuilding phase and will focus on progress, taking each game as a step towards growth,” he said.
On his part, Emmanuel Danjuma, coach of Nasarawa Amazons, praised his team’s performance, rating them highly despite their loss.
Danjuma attributed their impressive showing to the players rookie status and rate them high as 85 per cent.
“ Noting that most of them are new to the league and come from grassroots backgrounds.
“ Highlighting the team’s potential, stating that exposing these young players to top-level competition is a key part of their development strategy.
“We would learn from our mistakes and use them as an opportunity for growth, regrouping and coming back stronger in our next matches,” he said.
Nigeria Customs will face Titans Basketball on Wednesday at 4 p.m., at the Moshood Abiola National stadium Abuja while Nassarawa Amazons will face Royal Aces on Wednesday at 2 p.m at the same venue.
Earlier in the day, Air Warriors wasted no time making their presence felt with a dominant 91-24 victory over HAM Warriors their opening group game of the tournament.Titans Basketball,easily dispatched Kada Angels 67-28 in their opening group game of the tournament.
Royal Aces beat Plateau Peaks 78-49 in their opening group game of the tournament.
A total of eight teams are participating at Zenith Bank Nigeria Basketball Federation ( NBBF) Women’s premier League 2025 Phase one Savannah Conference in Air Warriors, Titans Basketball.
Others are Kada Angels, Plateau Peaks ,Royal Aces,Nassarawa Amazons, Ham warriors and Nigeria Customs.
