
*Honoured with dicey football match pairing in Ilorin
Ancient city of Ilorin will be agog Friday as Lubcon Football Club of Ilorin will trade tackle against Nationwide Football Club in a match to mark the exit of former Secretary General of the then Nigeria Football Association, Dr Steve Olarinoye from the civil service.
The match being put together by Stakeholders in the Sports Industry will hold at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin starting at four o clock in the afternoon.
Eminent sports personalities expected to grace the occasion include one time FIFA and CAF member, Dr Amos Adamu, Ex-Super Eagles player, Kanu Nwankwo and former Super Eagles handler, Christian Chukwu.
Dr Steve Olarinoye who hails from Omupo, Kwara State joined the service of the National Sports Commission in the 80s and held various positions including Executive Secretary, Nigeria Professional League, Head of International Competitions of the NFF and led the Football team that won gold at the 1994 Atlanta Olympics Games under the captainship of Kanu Nwankwo.
Oyo state Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) led by the mercurial Niyi Alebiosu alsoorganised series of activities in honour of the retiring Olarinoye who is currently a Board member of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF).
