Two of the best teams in the country Nigeria Customs Ladies and First Bank of Lagos, will contest the final of the 2022 edition of the Mark D Ball Basketball Championships, which ends on Saturday, at the Indoor Sports Hall, located at Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
Custom’s duo of Nkem Akariwe and Josette Anaswem gave their best and experience while scoring 21 points and 14 points each to silence rampaging Sunshine Angels of Akure 61-54; in a match many hailed as final before the final.
The first quarter saw both sides tied on 13-13; Sunshine Angels led 26-24 by halftime; and slightly extended their lead to 45-42 at the end of Q3.
However, Deborah David who finished with 9 points to her name, was the game changer for the Customs Ladies, who won Q4 by 19-9 points, to wrap up the Semifinal win.
In the other semi final match, Ifunanya Okoro provided 15 points, while Theresa Mac-Dangosu added 12 dunks as First Bank of Lagos thrashed Kada Angels of Kaduna 53-42; in the first Semi-Final.
Thursday’s Classification matches to determine 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th place finishers, saw
Air Warriors of Abuja edge IGP Queens 75-70 in a closely fought encounter; to set up the clash against MFM of Lagos who crushed Plateau Rocks of Jos 49-24.
