Nigeria Football Federation has hurriedly pressured the chief coach of the national under 15/13 male football teams (Future Eagles) of Nigeria, Charles Bassey to re-submit his team’s camping programmes ahead of the forthcoming Africa Youth Games scheduled to hold between 26th of August and September 6th in Cairo, Egypt.
The unwillingness of the crisis ridden NFF to focus on preparations of the Future Eagles ahead of the games has become a major concern.
Coach Bassey affirmed that he submitted a new program to the NFF and same was forwarded to the sports ministry this week Monday by the team’s secretary Suraju Hassan.
According to the information made available to news men, the NFF is still undecided when and where to camp the Future Eagles with less than 3 weeks to the commencement of hostilities in Cairo.
The NFF have no interest in this competition and the Future Eagles have been abandoned and neglect for over 3 years and still counting.
With less than 23 days to the start of the Africa Youth Games, the NFF have no plans for the Future Eagles despite the fact that the lads have been on vacation for days.
There are strong indication that coach Bassey’s earlier camping plans that was submitted several months ago was rejected on purpose in order to score a political point over Amaju Pinnick perceived enemies on the board of the NFF.
It was said that Coach Bassey had a very beautiful programme for the team but the federation appears not to be interested in investing in the Future of the young Eagles.
As at the time of this report NFF don’t have a team on ground and the players are yet to be called to camp, how they will perform if they eventually made it to games will remain a magic.
We sincerely hope that Amaju Pinnick and his board will not blame the sports ministry again for their ineptitude.
There is palpable confusion surrounding the Future Eagles saga and no solution in sight.
