Africa Scrabble Champions Oluwatimileyin Doko has disclosed that he is not under pressure to deliver for Ondo State, at the maiden edition of the Niger Delta Sports Festival in Uyo.
Speaking with Gongnews.net the African Number one said “No, I’m not under any pressure to perform here,
Like I said, the field has some of the best in the country and these are very good players They are players I’ve played against many times over the years. So I just try to play my game as best I can and not really think about who I’m playing but to remained focus in my game”. He said.
Speaking further, the current African Champion, is aware of the challenges ahead.
“Well, I expect to face a really tough competition. The field here has some of the best in the country, so I expect that the competition will be tough. I expect that it will be a great experience to meet other athletes and to be among them, So I just plan to give my best physically and hopefully then also. the stars here at the festival will be more encouraging and challenging for me as an athlete”.
While he praised the organiser for giving the athletes another opportunity to compete.
“It’s a great initiative, I think, to be able to bring athletes together from the Niger Delta state, young athletes especially, to expose them and give them a platform to advance in their chosen sport. So I think it’s a great initiative. And I must commend them and I hope the young talent will be discovered which is the aim of the organiser” Doko concluded.
