The President of Louis Edem Foundation, Louis Edem, has opened up his next plan for the next edition of the Louis Edem Invitational Basketball Championship will  place in Ghana as they are in discussion with the West African neighbours.

Speaking at the ongoing  3rd edition of the competition currently going on in Lagos, it was supposed to take place in Ghana but the venue was changed due to some logistics issue and according to the former international, we re in proper discussion to take the next edition to Ghana in 2024.

“Yes. As a matter of fact, we are planning to return to Ghana,” he said.

“We have logistics problems when we wanted to go last year but now, we have resumed talks with the Ghanaian side and they want to host us.

“We are going to look for a comfortable time and when we are sure that we are going to be  host in Ghana we are going to make the announcement for all to hear.” he continues

Also speaking on the third edition of the championship, the tournament director,  Aniefiok Boniface, said despite the initial challenges that we encountered before the commencement of the tournament ,  we have been able to start the tournament and looking forward to a befitting end to the championship, he said.

While adding, “It’s been full of ups and downs in terms of preparation to put all of this together. There was a lot of worry as far as preparation is concerned, against all odds we are here and this day four.

We are happy that we are making progress and we are looking forward to the championship and the finals.

“As far as I’m concerned when it comes to basketball consistency and repetition is what makes the players better, even the coaches.

The more games that you are able to go  and play through the season, it puts you in a better position to be able to understand scenarios with players and how to fine tune your craft as far as you are coach or player.

“Looking  about national team this championship gives the players and coaches an opportunity to showcase their game. The national team coaches are able to come here, see them, scout talent and put them on the national team programme.” Boniface concluded.

It will be recalled that 2 Ghanaian teams are participating in the current championship, Ghana Revenues Authority and Spintex Knights are the teams from Ghana.
