Adesoji Adeniji the Executive Director of Project, Aron Nigeria limited, which is the outfit saddled with renovation of the Moshood Abiola National stadium football pitch has declared it will be ready by next month.
He disclosed this in Abuja during the inspection of the football pitch.
Speaking during the inspection of work done so far, said the work was awarded to them by Dangote , under the philanthropical aspect.
We started this work in August and we were supposed to finish in March but unfortunately we have some itches on the pitch, the drainages, the underground drainages have all collapsed after several years before we took over the job which added as an additional work for our Company and took us three months to get through because we want to give Nigerian the best.
“We have to change all the Sprinkler, there are 24 sprinklers working presently as we speak and we have the valves”. “We brought in the automatic score boards which can do virtually everything recording in time and playing back, fast forward and so many things,” he said
He noted that the scored board as of today is 100 % finished and it can broadcast to many other world.
The company also brought in a new grass which is used in the Africa continent for the first time.
“The grass is in advance stage , we hopefully by the next month we should be able to hand over completely but right now we are under what you call maintenance.
“May I also let you understand that this grass is the first time is been used in the whole of Africa
” It is call pure dynasty pas parlon grass. It was introduced by Qatar when they wanted to host the World Cup and there was a challenge for them due to the climate
“Qatar for the first time with FIFA went into the production of grass. So we look at the climate in Qatar and that of Nigeria and we find out that it is almost similar,” he added
” We are hoping that by the time we get to the maintenance period we will get everything done and this will be the pride of everyone of us.
The Director of Facility of stadium, Muhammad Babakoby who was represented by the Minister of Sports and youth development, Sunday Dare said the inspection of the stadium is to know the progress of the work of the stadium
We are here to inspect the progress so far we have achieved on the rehabilitation of some of the components of the Moshood Abiola stadium that Aliko Dangote , Chief executive of the Dangote company as under the patriotic sponsors and funds
This involved the complete insulation of the new insulation of the new scored board for this stadium the two of them at this stadium and the re- construction of the playground turf.
“The minister this level at the completion of stadium appreciate and he invited the chief executive to come and see the progress that been made so far.
” I told you that this is been done under the philanthropist chief Aliko Dangote, government have no commitment in terms of the finance .
‘But unfortunately the minister and Aliko Dangote can’t attend because they are at the Presidential retreat as we speak and he is been directed that I introduce this to the members and press media,” he concluded.
