Director of Academy Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Folashade Adekeye on Thursday said that the NNPCL is set for upcoming Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG ) in April.
According to her , the 13th NNPC Limited Sports Fiesta have helped to attain employee physical fitness and well-being and most importantly, ensuring productivity through a healthy workforce.
“ But looking beyond that in the month of April, we will be going to the 19th Edition of the NOGIG from April 21 to April 27, in Abuja.
“I can assured you that we are in top gear already. All participants on various sports from our side are in top form.
“ This tournament also serves as a platform for selecting NNPC Limited potential flag bearers at the forthcoming NOGIG.
“ I can assured you that NNPC Limited will defend its title of overall Winner, a feat it has maintained over the years. and this is another opportunity for us,” she said.
According to her, this edition of the biennial event themed “Healthy Workforce, Productive Organization,” symbolises NNPC Limited belief in the integral role of physical well-being towards enhancing organizational productivity among employees.
“ It’s have been a successful tournament. I am highly satisfied and all the staff are highly motivated and that shows that there is balance in work and games.
“ There is what we call work life integration and that’s what has been displayed here. Our staff are motivated doing very well on the jobs and at the same time they were able to expressed themselves in sports and games,” she said.
She also noted that some of the
events that have been completed are basketball, volleyball, chess, squash, scrabble, 8-ball pool, golf, tennis, table tennis, badminton, swimming and Athletics.
“ Awards were given today and more will be given on Friday after the novelty match between NNPCL Football Team and Ex-Super Eagles Stars, led by Austin Okocha.
“ For us NNPCL is a brand , so bringing a legends like Okocha it’s tells how much we have invested in this and how much it’s means to us.
“ It’s not just NNPCL as a energy company you known . It’s also to tell you that we are involved in every other thing like sports and games. Our people and employees values prepositions enables them to go beyond,” she said.
On his part , Enerst Oghenejobo a basketball player, said that had this game not come up ,he would probably be at the office with big tommy but because of the game I had to prepared, exercise and lose weight.
“ I had to exercise and be in the right frame of mind. This helps productivity because when you are healthy then you will be productive.
“ If others parastatal are not involved in such games at this time , it’s something that should be looked into because it’s helps a lots in bringing out the best in the staffs and it’s enhanced behavior for high performance .
“ So it is something that should be inculcated to system if others aren’t doing it now,” he said.
He won the most valuable player , as his team Excellence defeated team sustainability 40-36 in the final match to emerged champions in the basketball male category.
The Biennial Sports Fiesta of the NNPCL with athletes are from the company’s three zones namely :
Integrity represented the Port Harcourt/Benin Zones,Excellence represented the Lagos/Warri Zones and Sustainability Abuja/Kaduna Zones .
