Revolution At Vemp Tennis Open As Next Generation Dominate Tournament

Some New generation of players are evolving in Nigerian tennis as youngsters took over the driving seat to the delight of spectators and tennis buffs including Nigerian Tennis Federation NTF Engineer Dayo Akindoju.

It is very likely that one of these generation of players including David Ekpeyong and Abayomi Phillips may emerge winner.

Unfortunately, the fixture does not favour them as Abayomi and Ekpeyong will be meeting in the semifinal while Life Camp boy, Peter Lawal and Uche Oparaoji relatively senior players will be meeting in the other semifinal.

Abayomi defeated old war horse Henry Atseye 6/4 2/6 6/3 while Ekpeyong humbled Kushmo Usman 6/2 2/0rtd.
For the ladies, it is going to be top seed Edwards Marylove and Yakubu Oiza in the semifinal while Aanu Aiyegbusi takes on Stella Udokwelu in the other semifinal.

Speaking on his chances Ekpeyong who won the J4 Junior tournament in Cote D’Ivoire last week sounds modest about his chances of winning his first major saying he would do his best.
