World Cup Qualifiers: Nigeria Should Expect Victory From Us — Finidi

By Oluwole Francis

Head Coach of Super Eagles, Finidi George, has said Nigeria should expect victory in two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Benin Republic in Uyo and Abidjan respectively next month.

Finidi, who stated this while speaking with journalists in Abuja on Friday said, “We will do everything that we can and not just me but the whole team will get the victory we need.

“You can’t just judge us by friendly games and we will be playing two important games against South Africa and Benin Republic. We know what is at stakes and friendly games are always different from competing games and we just hope the players will come out with the mentality to win the games.

“I am quite optimistic that we will work towards that definitely. By the time we invite the players we will know who we are inviting and we will see those that can give us victory.

“I just met with the NFF and we talked about everything and touched everything, from players to World Cup targets and you know this is Nigeria. It is all about winning and doing our best. We came second in the last AFCON games and the target now is to do better than Nations Cup,” Finidi said.
